A message from the Principal
It has been lovely to hear all the children’s news and to see them settle very quickly into their new classes and routines.
The new school year has seen some changes to the Senior team at Dallow. We are delighted to be joined by four new Assistant Headteachers: Mr Andrew Darlington, Mrs Beverley Trotman, Mr Tom Guiney and Mr Conor McCaffrey. They join Mrs Mirza and Mrs Norris on my extended Senior Leadership Team
We have also welcomed 8 new members of staff: Mrs Sehli as Zebra Classteacher; Mrs Justin as Pine Classteacher; Mr Shaw, Miss Johnstone and Miss Skallist have joined the Teaching Team; Miss Mistry has joined the Sports Team and Mrs Islam and Miss Zaman have joined the Teaching Assistant Team.
I am sure you will soon get an opportunity to meet with all of the new staff.
As a school we had a very successful year last year with our GOOD OfSTED outcome in the summer; pupil outcomes in Foundation our best ever and equal to the national average of 71% ; our best ever Year 1 Phonics results of 83% which is higher than the national average; improved end of KS1 outcomes very close to national averages and an improvement in all areas in our KS2 SATs results with our Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling outcomes being 4% above the national average.
This year we are continuing to strive to ensure all pupils achieve the very best that they can. Our whole school foci this year is READING and we will be seeking your support at home as the year progresses. It is really important that your child reads everyday at home—please help support your child by finding 10 minutes to read with or listen to them.
I hope that you will all be able to attend your child’s new year group welcome meeting being held over the next few weeks—look out for a poster in your child’s classroom and a reminder text will also be sent. Please do try and attend as you will have an opportunity to meet the team who will be working with your child this year. You will also have the opportunity to hear about what they will be learning, how you can help, homework and also ask any questions you may have. We look forward to seeing you all.
