A message from the Principal
This week has been a very busy end to the half term with amazing sporting opportunities for all year groups – chances to actually play football on Luton Town pitch and to play cricket with Luton Town and Indians Cricket Club. We have also seen Year 4 enjoying the sunshine and ‘wildlife’ on Dallow Downs and Year 5 having the most amazing day at Kidzania.
A huge well done to all pupils in Year 6 and Year 2 who have now completed their end of Key Stage assessments – we know they will all be successful and we greatly look forward to sharing their achievements with you at the end of the school year.
Year 6 are now concentrating on their writing with their memories of their time at Dallow and becoming published authors – a book is being produced of their memories and I cannot wait to see and read it. Year 6 are also busy preparing for their end of year production – The Wizard of Oz. This will be an incredible opportunity for the whole year group and again we cannot wait for the performance.
Next half term is long – 7 weeks until we close for the summer holidays on 20th July. It is important that the children continue to attend every day as there are so many exciting events and activities planned. They cannot afford to miss Sports Day, Transition Days, Class Swops, Trips, Celebration Assemblies and most of all the opportunity to be awarded their attendance medals – Mr Guiney and I are really looking forward to awarding some Gold Attendance medals at the Celebration Assemblies.
Please remember that I do not authorise any holiday during term time and if you do take your child out of school before 20th July you may be subject to a fine from Luton Council. Make every day count.
It was lovely to see so many Year 1 Parents at the Phonics Meeting Mr McCaffrey held last week. I know many parents will be continuing to support their children with their phonics and reading over the half term break. Please remember that the Phonics Check is during the week beginning the 11th June.
We look forward to sharing all of your child’s successes in their end of year reports which will come home just before the end of the term.
Please make sure that you read any letters that come home as they will contain the details of all our special events to which you will be invited. If you have a Twitter account please remember to follow us @DallowPrimary – we are always posting pictures about our incredible events and the children’s work.
I hope that the sun continues to shine for the May half term break and we look forward to seeing all of the children back in school at 8.45am on Monday 4th June.
